Johnny Depp fans cannot stop asking the actor to reprise his iconic Captain Jack Sparrow role in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Meanwhile, Disney’s cryptic response over the Tourist actor’s potential return to the franchise has taken the internet by storm.

Depp, 59, who was axed from the blockbuster franchise in 2018 over his legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard, may reprise his fan-favorite role in the upcoming film, hinted the Disney Studios Motion Picture Production president Sean Bailey.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Bailey candidly discussed Depp's potential return and said, “we think we have a really good, exciting story that honours the films that have come before but also has something new to say.”

Addressing speculations over Johnny Depp joining the sixth installment, Bailey replied that the studio was “noncommittal at this point.”

On the work front, Depp made his come back on the big screens with the film Jeanne du Barry. The film received a seven-minute standing ovation at its premiere during the Cannes Film Festival last month.

The 76th Cannes Film Festival also marked Johnny Depp's first red carpet appearance since his victory in defamation trial against Amber Heard.
