'Slum Princess' Maleesha Kharwa: The journey from Mumbai slums to modeling world

Maleesha Kharwa, a 15-year-old girl from Mumbai, become an overnight internet sensation  after bagging her first major  modeling  offer.

Maleesha, a young talented girl who hails from Mumbai's Dharavi slums, was discovered by Robert Hoffman in 2020 and has now become the face of a luxury brand in India.

When looking for talent for his music video, the Step Up 2 star Robert Hoffman saw her walking the streets of Bandra. 

Robert admitted that he was moved by her tale and ended up supporting her all the way through because of it. 

Maleesha attends school and aspires to be a supermodel, but she also strongly believes in getting an education. 

She recently won, and as a result, she is now a part of the 'Forest Essentials' campaign. Last year, the adolescent experienced driving for the first time, recording her journey. 

Kharwa has done other modelling work in addition to appearing in a short film and on a magazine cover.
