Lily Rose Depp named the pop stars that inspired the actress for her role while filming for the upcoming HBO series The Idol.

During a conversation with ET, the 23-year-old actor revealed about the icons she followed as a reference for the role of Jocelyn in the controvercial series, specifically, the leading lady of old Hollywood film Basic Instinct.

"Of course, there are so many incredible pop stars of today that I have nothing but admiration and respect for — and of course, you can't help but thinking of when you think of a character like Jocelyn — but we're definitely not telling anybody else's story or trying to base her on any real person," she said.

The Idol actress explained how she kept in mind some of the most controversial characters played by the legendary actress of Hollywood, in order to get influenced by their performances for her own role.

"We actually drew from a lot of other influences that are not pop stars," Depp continued,"we thought a lot about Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct and the Gene Tierneys and Lauren Bacalls... all of these women that were very inspiring to me for the role."

For the unversed, Lily Rose Depp is daughter of Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp. The upcoming HBO series is co-created by the Canadian singer Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, who is also playing the lead opposite Rose Depp.
