Sam Levinson’s The Idol, a highly anticipated HBO series starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel  'The Weeknd' Tesfaye made a remarkable impact at the Cannes Film Festival 2023.

The HBO original series received a standing ovation of more than 5 minutes. During the screening of the first two episodes, which provided an introduction to Depp's captivating portrayal of Jocelyn, Levinson took a moment to express his emotions before the audience at the Grand Theatre Lumiere.

With his two stars by his side, he expressed immense pride in the show. “I am incredibly proud of this show, and I’m proud of the way we made this show,” he added.

"I feel like I gained a family. I know that sounds a little culty but that’s the way it feels."

For Cannes red carpet look on May 22,  Lily-Rose Depp wore a black, sequined minidress with a floral brooch.

The Weeknd donned a classic black-and-white tux, and director Sam Levinson looked dapper in a white suit.

HBO original series The Idol debuts on HBO on Sunday, June 4.
