‘Tere Bin writer refuses to budge amid pressure to change script
'Tere Bin' writer said, 'this project has received wide recognition that people reacted strongly to the recent twist'
Wahaj Ali and Yumna Zaidi starrer hit drama serial Tere Bin has been trending all over the internet after a shocking plot twist has been revealed and fans in trauma.
The Geo Entertainment’s blockbuster hit drama serial, starring Wahaj as Murtasim and Yumna as Meerub, has received global praise since its debut in December.
However, fans have been left in shock after the plot twists hinted at possible marital rape in the latest episode, aired on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Tere Bin writer has defended the script, calling it the ‘demand of the story.’ Nooran Makhdoom, in conversation with Arab News, said, “It’s a situation which was the demand of the serial that will lead to the climax.”
Addressing fans’ strong criticism, Makhdoom further said, “If the audience isn’t getting it, I can’t change it,” she continued. “It’s just a drama. They should wait for the entire story to unfold instead of taking issue with every episode.”
In the last episode, Meerub slapped Murtasim after catching him with his cousin Haya as the two getting intimate.
At the end of the episode, Murtasim was seen dragging Meerub toward the bed and shutting the door.
Makhdoom noted that Tere Bin content team and 7th Sky production house did not object to the storyline. “It’s not like this has happened onscreen for the first time,” she added.
“It’s just that this project has received such wide recognition that people reacted strongly to the recent twist.”
“If you speak of my social responsibility, I created a story and I stand by it,” she said. “And this is not an unusual occurrence; it has happened before.”
Tere Bin latest episode garnered 18 million views and is currently trending as number one on YouTube.
