The 2023 Cannes Film Festival honored one of the Hollywood’s most-celebrated film franchises, Indiana Jones, at the premiere of its latest installment Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on Thursday night.

The Harrison Ford-starrer received five-minute standing ovation at the glam film festival, held at the Grand Theatre Lumière, leaving the lead star teary eyed.

For the unversed, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the fifth (and probably final) chapter of the franchise and it will see Ford’s farewell to his iconic role of Dr. Jones.

According to Variety, the crowd cheered for Ford, giving him a standing ovation as the cast and director of the film were announced to join on stage.

Harrison Ford was also presented with the Palme d’Or award, which is the highest honor awarded at the Cannes Film Festival.

“I’m very touched,” the Star Wars icon said in his speech. “They say when you’re about to die, you see your life flash before your eyes. And I just saw my life flash before my eyes – a great part of my life.”

“My life has been enabled by my lovely wife, who has supported my passion and my dreams, and I'm grateful," he said.

Ford concluded his speech saying, "I love you, too (fans). But I've got a movie you ought to see. It's right behind me. So let me get out of the way, and thank you again for this great honour."

Harrison Ford walked the glam Cannes red carpet with his wife Calista Flockhart.

Besides, Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen.

Directed by James Mangold, the film will land in theatres on June 30, 2023.
