Johnny Depp is in the spotlight once again, but for all the right reasons this time.

The Pirate of the Caribbean actor, who was clouded with controversies last year has surely enjoyed a ray of sunshine at the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.

During  the press conference for his film Jeanne Du Barry, which premiered at the festival, Depp opened up about boycott and cancel culture.

"You'd have to not have a pulse at that point to feel like, 'No, none of this is happening. This is actually just a weird joke," said the actor, who felt "boycotted" by Hollywood after he filed legal cases against ex-wife Heard in 2022.

"Of course, when you're asked to resign from the film you're doing because of something that is merely a bunch of vowels and consonants floating in the air, yeah, you feel a bit boycotted," he added.

"Do I feel boycotted now?" Depp continued. "no, not at all. But I don't feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don't think about it. I don't think about Hollywood. I don't have much further need for Hollywood myself."

Jeanne Du Barry marks Depp's first film since his legal battle with ex-wife last year, over a defaming op-ed she wrote in 2018 accusing the actor for domestic abuse.
