Jennifer Lopez joined her on-screen daughter Lucy Paez as they shared valuable life lessons and parental advice they have received from their moms while promoting their latest film The Mother.

Lopez, who plays Lucy’s mother in Netflix‘s new action thriller, sat down for a conversation with Tudum and admitted they had some pretty good advice.

“The best advice my mom has ever given me was ‘always be one step ahead’,” shared Lucy, who plays Zoe in the latest action venture.

Lopez shared words of wisdom from her own mother and revealed that she wanted her to be more independent.

“The best advice my mom’s given me is to be okay on your own,” the Shotgun Wedding star recalled.

“And not need the likes and acceptances of other people to feel good about themselves.”

In The Mother, Lopez, 53, plays a retired assassin who’s forced to return to the field to protect her long-lost daughter Zoe, the official synopsis read.

Elsewhere in the interview. Lucy detailed her experience of playing Lopez’s daughter and said, “Jennifer’s daughter was there.”

“I was like ‘Now I have to do this great because the daughter’s there. The real-life daughter’s there.” And I felt really stressed because I was gonna play the daughter in front of the real-life daughter. So, I was a nervous wreck.”

The Mother is currently streaming on Netflix.
