Sanjay Leela Bhansali says must be 'careful' while making a historical in India
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to release his new project 'Heeramandi' on Netflix this year

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is gearing up to release the new web series Heeramandi with the collaboration of Netflix has shared that one has to be careful to make a historical film in India. Hindustan Times reported.
Speaking at a Netflix event in Mumbai, Sanjay stated: "When you're making a historical in our country, you need to be careful. So yes, you need to get your facts right."
He further said: "And that is where my research ends because most of it is imagination, most of it is how I see the period. It's done but it's not done so much detailed because I find research very boring. I, as a filmmaker, am not set out to make a documentary that I want it to be exact."
Sanjay is all set to make his OTT debut with Heeramandi revealed that the series is a special project for him and added, "It’s so huge in scale. I had to do something special... [Sarandos] had commissioned this to me and therefore we had to do something special to make him proud."
Recently, the filmmaker and Netflix unveiled the first look teaser of the film which features Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal.
The eight-episode-based series is expected to release on Netflix sometime this year.
